Stoned Sober is on a distinguished road

having vast difficulties with my ati 340m igp, radeon 7000 igp chipset.

ive been having difficulties with my laptops graphical drivers. i have a sony vaio PCG-k35 and the drivers from both the sony website and windows update are out of date and will not run the games i am trying to play.

i have tried modding the catalyst drivers and while they install, i am unable to activate direct3d, directdraw or the AGP texture acceleration. same thing with the omega drivers.

i think i may need to upgrade the chipset driver before upgrading the video drivers but im really not too sure at all.

also, drivers are not available from the ati website for my card, im guessing because of oem complications?

its a 128mb with 4x AGP speed, i see no reason why it should not run games or be able to use the hardware acceleration. and yes, i turned that up in settings.

any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Welcome to DH!

Honestly man, you're not going to find real current drivers designed for or even supporting your card. I have an old r9000 mobility which I use the Omega drivers based on the 4.12 series radeons. They work fine with WoW (last I checked), Half Life 2, and Guild Wars. I got much better performance with the older drivers than the recent modded drivers.

When you have older parts, its sometimes best to use older drivers which were designed with them in mind.
