check the bottom of the laptop, if it has a removeable panel with a symbol of a memory chip, remove the panel and install your new ram

There are 3 panels underneath. One with a symbol that looks like an oil drum. There are 2 screws which when removed do not loosen the panel. Also a large middle panel that looks like it must be the one. Again 2 screws which when undone allow the panel to slide forward a couple of mm. but it stops there. I am not keen to prise it open. The third panel is the same as the first. Everything is not what it seems.

If memory serves the ram slot is under a panel dead center on the bottom of the unit. There should be 1 or 2 screws holding the panel down.

BTW, one thing I like about Acer is the fact that they document everything in their manuals. If memory serves the installation process for the ram should be in there too, somewhere around page 35 to 40. You might want to check it just in case.

Thanks for that. However, then central panel has 2 screws at one end. Once undone the panel will slide forward on 3 pins at the other end of the panel. And stops. This is where I am stuck. The Acer manual I have viewed doesn't show show anything.
