Some help - missing hard drive space due to DC++ sharing?

I recently downloaded DC++ to use on my college campus. Havent really used it until last night, but for some reason after using it, and although I downloaded everyhting to my external HDD to save space on my laptop, also where I keep my itunes music, I went from ~115 GB free hard disc space on my laptop to just under 95gb overnight. how can this be? is my computer confused with the antifrag files that DC++ uses or something? please some insight on this problem, as it's really frustrating. Also, I only have downloaded about 4 gB so far, how can so much space be missing??

thanks for any help

-Dan

You haven't enabled full access of your hard drive to others through either DC or university's campus, have you?

I haven't used DC in few years. You might want to ask this under another section of the form, hardware or software or off topic. But not all.

Mr cairo will become famous soon enough

seem to recall that some clients like to allocate the space a download needs at the start of a download

so say you want to download a file thats 4 gig in size windows allocates the whole amount of space neede so even if you have only downloaded 20meg of the file your drive will show 4 gig used

think flashget does it as well ...

this may or may not be what you are expiriencing

sorta old thread but if you put the program's folder on your laptop drive, & shared say, 200gb of files, the database of shared files takes up a lot of space & is found in DC's folder
