I have/had an odd problem w/ my Compaq laptop & the MX700. The laptop is an Athlon 1.2 w/ XP Home on it. Ever since installing the latest drivers it would just randomly freeze for no reason. In the past I've had problems with MW drivers doin the old 100% CPU utilization thing with the core system file for the drivers. However, with 9.75 drivers I didn't seem to have any problems at all. I say that with a little doubt because it would lock up once in awhile but that was when I had the battery installed at full charge. There is a known problem with my laptop where if the battery is charged and your running of AC it will lockup. Too bad my warranty run out before I was able to get around to sending it in.

I know it's the latest MW drivers because last night I finally was sick of it and had not done a format since buying the laptop. I installed Win2K this time, minus the Compaq crap and 2K's smaller foot print I was blown away by how much faster the laptop seemed. Never locked up either until I installed the latest MW drivers. Now I'm considering just reinstalling the 9.75's though the only feature it would give me back is the application swap button on the mouse. I'm just interested in knowing (a shot in the dark) if anyone has come across something like this with their laptop and/or PC? BTW, my laptop has one of the Synaptic touchpads installed with latest drivers.
