Pissed Dell D410 Keyboard Help

Hi,

I've recently been given a Latitude D410, but have little experience of either computers or notebooks.

The keyboard is driving me crazy!

How do I make the number keys along the top do what they say? Some of them have three things on them, for example the number 2 key also has " and @, I can make the " appear, but cannot get the @ to appear at all, so I can't even write an email address.

The number 7 key also has / and {, but all I can make appear apart from the number 7 is & (the ampersand) which isn't even shown on the key!

Am I doing something wrong?

Any help at all would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Jon.
