exclamation Acer Aspire 5021 display problem

I have a serious problem with my computer.

There seem to be something wrong with my screen or graphic card. Let me explain.

I turn on my computer and I get screen with Acer logo on it. Sometimes (most times) my display shows it only on 3/4 of the screen. I have a stripe of black screen on the right of the panel and a stripe at the bottom. Boot screen and windows display is affected.

I noticed that if this error happens my panel (screen) is detected as LCD Panel (1024x768). Normally (when it works correctly) it is a plug and play monitor. I am unable to change resolution from 1024x768 to 1280x800 (which is my normal resolution).

I tried changing graphic card drivers. I used manufacturers drivers and Omega drivers, but it dosen't help much. Fixes a problem for a short while (untill I turn it off) and then I have to uninstall drivers and install them again (sometimes few times).

I updated my BIOS to most recent version. It is still not working.

Things are displayed correctly on external monitor, so I don't think it is anything wrong with graphic card.

I think that it could be something wrong with windows not detecting my screen correctly, but I don't know if I am right.

HELP!!!

My spec:
Acer Aspire 5021WLMi
AMD Turion 64 ML-28 1.6GHz
ATI Mobility Radeon X700 PCI Express 128MB
512 MB Ram
Running on Windows XP Home
