HP Pavilion with ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 IGP Drivers

Hi,
I have an HP Pavilion zv5240us. Here are the specs:

Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz Processor
768 MB of RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 IGP

The problem is that I want to be able to play a few games like Galactic Civilizations II (nothing too graphically intense), but I can't find any drivers that will work with this card. I downloaded the drivers from HP, but they were last updated in the beginning of 2005. GC2 worked with those a little, but would crash and restart the computer when the game loaded. I used the Driver Heaven Mod Tool to install the latest drivers from ATI, but GC2 only goes to a black screen when I start it. I want to try to use the Omega drivers, but the Omega installation crashes when it tries to install the drivers, so the drivers don't get installed. If anyone has had any similar experiences with any of these problems and might be able to help, I would appreciate the response. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to DH.

First of all, have you tried using DriverCleaner to uninstall your old drivers? If not, that is where I would start. Secondly, you may want to give some older drivers a shot. On my lappy with the r9000, I use the 4.12 Omegas and they run everything wonderfully (WoW and HL2 mostly) so you may want to try those.

Hello:

If your going to use Patje's newest mod tool, i would recommend only using Catalyst Versions 6.5 or older. Anything newer than Catalyst 6.5 drops support for GPUs below the Radeon 9500/9600 core.

Thanks a lot guys! I still couldn't get the omega drivers working, but I followed what you said about the 6.5 drivers, Randomness, and it worked like a charm. I really appreciate the help! This is what I was looking for!
