desktop replacement..

I think this thread would be an odd one to submit these days...

however.. my pals wants a desktop replacement laptop...
which mean the most desktop-like performance laptop

since it's a desktop replacement, he dont care the weight is nor the battery (which just look like an ups for him)

he looked at mine which is Toshiba P35-S605 packed w/:
Mobile Pentium 4 552 w/ HT tech @ 3.5Ghz, 1mb L2, 533mhz
1 Gb of RAM (one 512mb pc2700 and one 512mb pc3200)
100Gb 5400RPM TOSHIBA HDD
ATI RADEON MOBILITY 9000/9100 IGP @ 128 mb shared
Super multi dual-layer drive (capable to write cd-r/rw, dvd-r/rw, dvd+r/rw, dvd-ram and every its double-layer... shortly say every format except blu-ray)

and he wanted to have a laptop much higher specs since mine was one year ago..

he dislike centrino series since its perform like junk... but me and him has no knowledge about centrino duo. he wanted a desktop replacement but dont want a one-year-ago technology... is there any pentium d-mobile?

he has $3000 budget..
he made me confuse since he wants a server-like performance but mobile which is sounded very crazy to me...

oh i forgot that not every model in U.S available here... we can only get Acer, Toshiba, Axioo, Asus, Gigabyte, ECS, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Compaq, and NEC.... Sony and Fujitsu is hard to find while HP-Compaq-IBM-Lenovo-Axioo-Asus-Gigabyte doesnt have so much kind to offer.. so it leaves only Acer-Toshiba-ECS which have a great market here... so please no DELL or ALIENWARE... and narrow the selection just to the brand i mentioned.

Thank you!

i will recommend him this lappy and try to find it on stores here..

EDITED

btw... is this core duo processor outperform p4m and perform just like latest desktop processor such as pentium d or pentium extreme??
can you show me a review or benchmark about this since it's difficult to make him consider a laptop holding a name "centrino"..
it would be easier if the processor name uses "mobile" as an addition such as Pentium 4-mobile or Sempron mobile... that's why he longing for Pentium D-mobile.... if they ever exist

sorry, there is no reviews for it that i can find atm...
i only go with the product that i think it should suit your requirements and budget that you provided.
the notebook computer specifications look good enough for a desktop replacement.
