My brother gave me a computer laptop and it is a inspiron 9100. It has issues when turned on. the power button has to be turned on multiple times before it will actually turn on and load the bios and then windows. NOW, however my problem has seemed to worsen. When I turn on the laptop it begins to load and the fan comes on immediately and as it is loading it turns off. Additionally when my brother gave me the computer he cleaned it and loaded XP windows for me but he used a user name and a password. He nor I, remember or know the password. I have a couple of times gotten to the point where windows asked for the password but for the most part the computer will not completely load. I had though, the good fortune to run a BIOS diagnostic test (Pressing the Fn key and the Power button) and everything passed. Does anyone have an idea as to what this crazy situation could be related to. I think it may be the switch. though that Idea doesn't completely add up. Or could the CP U be overheating. I don't know though. What do I know. Please, any help on the matter would be thanked with prayer. Mike B
