I just got my new tecra A6 duo cora notebook. I upped the ram to 1 gig so the specs are


Duo Core 1.66
1 Gig ddr2 ram
Mobility X1400 (omega 6.3)
60 gig 5400rpm drive


Im having a problem when i have several windows open one with stop responding for a while or if i open say control panel, it will take 3-4 secs to load the icons. Also with firefox and some small apps they will freeze sometimes.

Any idea what could cause this, its only 6 hrs old...

defrag all of the drives yet?

i like to see your 'startup items' and the current 'running processes'.
the Logfile of HijackThis will tell me those info.

download HijackThis and then "Do a system scan and save a logfile", post the contain info of the saved logfile. just get the logfile do not use the program to fix or delete anything.

I checked the running processes when i got it because i was surprised how much software and drivers is on here. Already removed lots of adware that was on the comp from factory! Here is the logfile, i disable about 10 startup items and left the rest about 25 which are mostly drivers labled TOSHIBA. On windows startup i have about 50 processes running

I just defraged and it helped a little, but still getting long load times for a dual core notebook. My old toshiba seems faster with only 512 ram and P4.

that's normal on some of pre-built pre-install PC like this.
just defrag all of the drives for now. don't tweak your Windows to much...

will check the logfile later.

toshiba's are notorious for having horrific amounts of processes running...disable them.



also, try the default graphics drivers and see fi that helps any...I doubt that's it, but it's worth a shot
