802.11b vs. 802.11g

If you have a laptop with a wireless 802.11b device installed, is it worthwhile to upgrade to 802.11g?

only for the range, to be honest.

your internet won't speed up much, if any, from B to G, but range and signal strength will increase about 4x over [which can boost speed some, but not all that much].

Broadband is typically 3-6 MB/sec, wireless B is 11 MB/sec....so unless you're getting weak signal strenght on the B, you won't see a lick of difference on the net....now intrAnet or LAN transfers,yes...you'll see a 5x improvement almsot gauranteed

Well, if i'm using wireless primarily for accessing Wi-Fi points, the increase in range and signal strength could be important to me, yes?

The truth is that the driver for the internal PRISM 802.11b USB module in my laptop isn't working right. I can pick up an outboard 802.11g USB adapter for $20 and maybe that would solve my driver configuration problems [or make them worse : -( ].
