Question regarding screen smoothness

Hi, I currently own a Inspiron 6000 with a X300 128mb and I was wondering there is a way to make the LCD smoother in games, videos, or animations. You see, I play Counter-Strike (CS) occasionally and I notice that the smoothness of my laptop screen does not really change when the frame rates (fps) go up. For example, if I set to a lower resolution, I get up to 100fps but I don't feel a change compared to 30-40fps from a higher resolution. If I compare this to my desktop's monitor, I feel a signigicant difference when I compare both 40fps and 100fps in CS. Does anyone know if there's something I can do about this?

I have the same issue with mine... In doom 3 sometimes I can "see the monitor refresh" specially if the frame rate is very high.. I thought it was a screen refresh rate problem, as mine "only" runs at 60 Hz. This happened with all drivers I've tried!

hmmmm....my sony does this on a rare occassion when the CPU tops out and the page file fills up, thus causing the video memory to shrink....maybe doom 3 is just above the specs of your lappie?

If it`s happening in games, try disableing V/Sync, if it`s anabled. This syncs your frame rate with your refresh rate and at certain resolutions can cause a performance hit.
