it doesn't seem forgotten IMO. just left alone. if it were forgotten, then you would see spider webs, dirt, up on some bricks because the tires were either stolen or used on another vehicle, etc.
Still a good pic though

mayby he is trying to say that seeing that made him remember his youth and helped a memory resurface that's been buried for a while

Man, I'd kill to have in my backyard and have the chance to rebuild that. I love trucks from that era so much! Nice shot.

The old girl has a police motor in it and it used to run, it will huff and chuff for a bit and then mercifully die. The kid that drove it, Terry was the only son of the man that originally bought it and he aimed to restore it to its original livery, but sadly Terry was killed in action in IRAQ, and the old man keeps air in the tires and occasionally walks around the fenders scraping off leaves and whatever falls from the sky.
The old truck has seen lots of winters that I know of, and has not moved, my father keeps an eye on it to keep the folks that use midnight auto to get their parts from ripping off more chrome the the old girl is slowly losing her primer coat. Terry left no children behind, and nothing remains of his legacy but baseball trophies and yellow photos of happier times, his mother long since passed away, we try to keep her clean when I am home, but the old man spends more time with my own father, as they are both stricken with cancer that eats away at them everyday, like the very rot that preys upon the upholstery. The cracked steering wheel plays host to spiders now and then, but in the seat lay an issue of some old magazine, curled and rolled, and barely legible. I never knew Terry, but he was good kid by all accounts, and every now and then I sweep the leaves from the hood and cab, pass a brush over the fenders and try to find something of Terry in the very stroke of sandpaper against the metal, or the medal hanging from the mirror.. From cradle to grave, we are all just dust... This is my ommage to a man I never knew who had a dream, a life and an old truck..

thanx Allan, the old girl deserves better, but I am powerless to do anything except admire it..
