Web Design Concept
I'm thinking hard about launching a website for my design stuff. If anything to just put my portfolio out there. I've had the hosting and domain forever, so I thought I might begin on the design of the website.
After a few hours, this is what I've come up with for the front page. Is it too much? easy to find the important stuff? Tell me what you guys think. ![]() Revision 2: ![]() I still need to figure out what ill do with the links on the right, but most likely they'll be the same glass effect as the "latest graphic design" etc headers, but in green, red, and blue. I'm not sure what CMS i'm going to use, im thinking maybe ModX, C4, or maybe Joomla! Last edited by cbeasley0; Jul 2, 2009 at 11:49 PM. Reason: changed font, background color, and took out the gridwork |

Re: Web Design Concept
I like it, it looks original to me. I personally don't care much for the main font (Links, Latest Graphic Design, etc.), and some text is very difficult to read, but the basic concept, which is the whole purpose of the thread, looks promising.
Keep us informed on your progress! =) |

Re: Web Design Concept
very interesting mate.
I am sure the font thing will get ironed out in post production eh?

Re: Web Design Concept
The fine print is still difficult to read (of course I may be the only one). I do like this revision more than the last though. Still not buying that font either, but I am extremely picky, so who knows

Re: Web Design Concept
Hmm, maybe a standard arial or tehoma would work better, some sans-serif. It would give it a more modern and clean look. The size for the "recent news" etc will be bigger too. I put it at a 12, but I guess the font i've used is fairly small. That stuff will get taken care of in CSS. I'll post another revision with a new font and see what it looks like.
Has anyone had any experience with making a design and then actually making it into a website, especially a CMS one? I've only modified templates but I have a book on CSS. |

Re: Web Design Concept
yeah, the fine print, but I am rather old and I have to wear chain on my reading glasses. but I can use the magnifier tool in windows to make it bigger so no prob man.

Re: Web Design Concept
Ok, I revised it, the picture is 1280 w, but the content is 900. For the accurate ratio, here's the link to open just the image
I changed up the font and background color. |

Re: Web Design Concept
Getting better. I wonder how it will all flow together in actual HTML/CSS form.
