Can someone manipulate this image to decipher the text please?
This is Elliott Smith (if you don't know who that is, you ought to find out) and a lot of dedicated fans have recently been trying to work out what it says on the awning behind him, on the left side of the photo.
Would it be possible to decipher the text using Photoshop or something of equal usefulness? I would be most grateful if someone could do so, post it, and say what they think it says.
Thanks.

I'm confused (or maybe ignorant some would say). Why would anyone, a dedicated fan or not, want to know what is on the awning? (just my opinion)
Anyhow, the easiest way is to go to the plaza where he was and look for where the 'photo was taken from....

I take pictures of old norman churches to decipher the enigma of the holy spirit in the facade and faces, and find the Sheela n gig or celtic gods...it is just human curiosity.
I think it is says LALCOLE or something like that...but the image is of poor quality, sorry.

If you know the country and city it might help as well. There could be a connection between the history of the area and the name of cafe. It would also help knowing what language it should be in.

The answer is no I bloody can't and you just started an argument between me and the missus .
Only thing we could settle on is that it's Paris and we think we've been to it.

Here is some quick stuff
When I have time I'll look up the writing style by matching a few letters then go through each letter till I get something that fits.

If its Paris I guess it could possibly be 'La toile'. Something to do with arty fabrics (designs are landscapes and florals). There's a museum just outside paris in a 18-19th century chateaux that has many on public display and 'La Toile' in the name.
I could of course be totally wrong cos it's been close to 15 yrs since I last visited Paris. Beautiful city though.

Because we're geeks.
Sorry Lelisevis! And it was sorta the general consensus that it is indeed somewhere in France. Nobody actually knows though, except for non-geeks who haven't divulged such information.
Thanks for the effort so far everyone, and nice one SFOSOK for fiddling with the image.
