4 out of 5 i suppose.
The text below your name could use less outer glow, maybe make it more opace?.......um what else. The white glow to the right of the trooper is a little rough, maybe use a soft brush to smooth it out?

pretty cool...the light from behind should wash out the front a little more...like when you look out of a tunnel, and see someone walking in, it washes the color out...hard to explain

Great overall composition. I do however see some flaws in it and that's why I gave it 2 out of 5 for now. I have no doubts that your technique will improve as this is new like you mentioned. My grade will go up for sure then.
First off the font, the different opacity's on the textlayers don't make a good readable text and the limited space between the text just makes the matter worse. Perhaps try and move one of the pieces of text somewhere else.
Then the backlight, creating a backlight with the troopers head not completely in the sig doesn't make the render come out stronger but makes the backlight take over the composition. Perhaps you should use a lensflare and some smudging techniques.
Then there's the abstract??? stuff in your sig. It lacks detail.
Those are my three points that kept you from 5 out of 5 for me. Hope you find my hints helpful and don't consider it as a egotrip like many seem to do. Good luck.

I prefer the text in the rev 2 but apart from that, it's top notch stuff and don't see really what Gazz is on about.

it looks bloody fine to me...
and the damn white border that others go on about...
personally I think the border adds very little to any sig...
but yours looks good...
you should experiment with gifs too...create some different effects like Jufodan..

I think not, like Gazz79 said, he's entering a cave. The lighting is suppose to be less present.
Ill work on that.
I made this other one like it.
Opinions?
