Wink Some of my handywork

Here`s some of my work. 2 figurines made from kits, cast in white metal, assembled and hand painted in acrylic.

No1: A samurai warrior kneeling. Actual figure is around 1.5-2 inches in height.

No2 Samurai Warrior on horse back in full armour. Height around 6 inches.

Both figures took around 8 months to build whilst I was at a very low point due to an illness. Amazing what you can do when you`re down and out

Nice work. The sitting sitting samuri dude looks vary vibrant and clean looking and the samuri on horse back has just an awsome amount of detail imho

good work, I love figurines myself...very good.
which period of Samurai were you trying to capture, I can clearly see the EDO influence and the Tara family influence as well.

Thanks for the feedback guys (most of which has been on the dust ). Last time I dusted the mounted figurine, bits started falling off, and `cos they`re white metal they`re blummin heavy, so you can`t flip and turn them.

They are a mixture of periods and clans. The kneeling guy doesn`t resemble anybody in particular, but his family crest is that of the Maeda family.
The mounted samurai is representive of the Momoyama period, during the Date daimyo and the large crescent moon indicates it was a set worn by Masamune Date, although the armor itself was originally black laquer.

The kneeling figure reminds me of an EDO period magistrate or travelling judge, very good, I lived in Japan for six years and devoted a great deal of time to learning about the pre-Meji clans and families that were ultimately intergrated or destroyed by the move towards westernism during the turn of the 19th and 20th century respectively.
The Bushido code or Samurai lifestyle can still be found in the "bento" mentality of Japanese males and females decended from Hachi-man or Samurai familes.
Please post more if you have them...I love it.
My own Grandfather recovered an Officer's sword on a Japanese island during WWII, no doubt from a trove of weapons the Marines and Army collected, I later returned it in 1999 when I returned to Japan after I got out of the military, it resides in a museum in Euno park in Yokohama, it wasnt a classic blade, but the man who held it died an honorable death, so I was plunged even further into their culture..
We could learn much from the Japanese IMO...
