A boy becomes a man. ( for Logan)
She stopped loving me today
I watched her slowly slip away
I held her sons hand and closed my eyes to pray
he became a man at the age of nine in so many ways
we hoped for the summer and a gentle rain
we could walk the river's edge and forget her pain
I tried so hard to find the words to explain
but now her peace and her release is all that remain
I drove him to his Grandmother and tried to embrace
he had swallowed his tears though a few ran down his face
I am a traveller but so grateful I had a chance to see
that I had a heart and a soul somewhere within me
A year of understanding love and pain and sorrow
I leave for distant shores and he waits for tommorow
A child of nine can barely begin to understand
she's gone now from our lives and he is now a man..
