diamonds from sierra leone

who knows this song from kanye west from his new album. absolutely intelligent song talking about the corruption in the diamond business and the most amazing beat.

takes a few times to actually understand the whole point of song

thanks for the lyrics post forgot about it.

he did get the beat from her song, but it was actually jay-z who created this version he had a song a while back diamonds are forever, and there is a remix with kanye and jay-z. even reading the lyrics its tough to make out the point. its so buried in there. talks all about his career and stuff

yea....as long as it is fresh...and he didnt rip off the whole thing, then I think the music is valid...just cannot stand sell out suckers sampling almost everything and cursing like a stone cold G and grunting like Master P....we got too damn many of those wanna be G's out there representin till they get their first check and thier first set of 22's then the music suffers....no fresh talent out there from the streets unless your willing to go find it. Dave Chapelle has folks on now and then that do it for real and live on camera...now that is talent.

Depends on the artist or the direction someone is taking I believe, I personally dont care for most rap artists, they truly are only interested in M O N E Y...period! There are a few of the reggae rappers that might be worthy of interest, and I suppose that is where my first real interest was. I think if you can truly give the public something without profanity, and angst and still tell a sad tale, or reveal a dark truth about mankind, then that is something worth listening to.

it is hard, in our world we do swear, we do cheat and hustle. and the lifestyle isn't a choice for lot of these guys. but lot of the stuff they do after going into the music business is stupid. for example, cassidy has a pretty solid CD out. what did he do? right before the release was charged with murder and they found AKs with him and some others. you live the lifestyle, tell the story how you climbed to fame and let's keep it there.

tupac was a different man altogether, he explained why he acted the way he did and the struggle of black people through his music. its a long and complicated issue, but nowadays, 80% mainstream rappers blow even though their "beats" (not lyrics) sound good (ie mike jones, slim thug, cash money millionaires, chingy etc.) too many to name.

Something fresh without all the gansta hype would be much appreciated...it isnt all about gansta's but I swear the marketing gods in LA think that it should be to get the real sound out...but that is the irony.
