highway ghost
linger on in the pregnant pause of twilight decending..
the censure of sound and light and shadows blending.
pull my lifeless body from the twisted metal cage
my epitaph is my death, finish the book, turn the page.
lifeless eyes gaze into the indigo sky
handfuls of earth cover me and my grave is dry.
ashes to ashes and rust to rust
beneath a desert moon I wither and turn to dust.
between hell and heaven my spirit will haunt the yellow line
that divides the left and right, between the mile marker signs.
let me touch your soul from the edge of the molten lake.
then the hot desert wind hits you like a slap in the face.
fall asleep and your fate you shall seal
I maybe right beside you to take the wheel...
