She looks at me with sadness in her eyes
What has been taken can never be replaced
Her choice was one of severed fate
Though this suffering I cannot hide
I take this weight in full stride
Her words, her touch they burrow deep
Into the soul with an outward reach
The thorns of love, they claw away
To destroy my heart soon this day
Odd it is this thing called love
To be thrown away like a stray dog
Kept for so long with no where to go
Back to his master he returns to know
How can something so long ago hurt so much?
The heart is shattered with just one touch
The pieces I am left to collect myself
And set this vase upon a shelf
In hopes to be dusted off one day
For it is this love I pray
