Some help plz on L1/L2 cache P4 N/W

Hello

Sorry guys I dont know whether this is in the right place or not but plz bear with me.

System spec:- P4 1.8 Northwood, ABIT BD7 mobo, 512Mb PC2100 DDR Cas 2 Ram, Radeon 8500 64Mb GFX card, Win XP Home. All standard not overclocked.

Ok ...right I have had two other threads running for which I had a bit of stick over (wont go into that, its over and done with). Anyways I have had to revert back to my 2.3 catalyst drivers for a smoother gameplay and a bench mark has confirmed better results even though the score is apparently not as high as it should be (I have pasted the full results at the end) I would like someone to give advice on some of the results listed in the system info section.

1/ These cache readings dont seem to be what I thought the P4 Northwoods had I thought it was 256k level one and level two. Also it appears that the Level two cache is disabled.

CACHES

Type Internal
Type Details Synchronous
Error Correction Type <unknown>
Associativity <unknown>

Level 2
Capacity 16 KB
Type Disabled at Boot, External
Type Details Synchronous
Error Correction Type <unknown>

2/ I have opened my AGP port size in the BIOS to 128Mb and the bench mark gave the following readings. My concern is that it would appear that I only have 55Mb available/being used out of the 64MB on the GFX card.

Total Local Video Memory 64 MB
Total Local Texture Memory 64 MB
Total AGP Memory 55 MB

Can anybody offer any advice on these issues and corrective measures if they are wrong. I am not a complete NOOB but I will admit most of this is above me. I appologise for the long post and also if it is in the wrong place (maybe a MOD could move it where more applicable) I am desperatly trying to cure a Ping spiking problem with my NTL BB that I get wilst playing Unreal Tournament and everybody keeps telling me its my PC and not NTL (well NTL would say that) I have disabled a lot of Windows services as advised by this guide WWW.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm (I chose the gaming option but not all of them).

Any help would be most appreciated

Well, first, your 3dmark score actually seems inline with what a system of that caliber should get.

Second, 3dmark doesn't identify my willemette p4 correctly either, download SiSoft Sandra 2002 and it should give you an accurate description of your CPU.

Third, Northwood P4s have 16k L1 caches, and 512k L2 caches. Willemettes have 16k and 256k. If you find you only have 256k, you got sold a Willemette in socket 478 format and should contact your supplier.

Fourth, if the L1 and L2 caches are disabled, you can try re-enabling them in your BIOS.

Fifth, contact intel tech support...or your motherboards' tech support.

hope it helps!
