Problem with sblive and headphones

i didnt have a prob when i plugged my old (sony mdr v300) on my sblive..the sound was perfect and no problems at all.
i bought the sony mdr v700 dj and they work perfect with everything except my sound card....when no sound is played i get hissing noise from the headphones....if i plug my old ones they work just fine...what should i do?

uhh, return them?

on a slightly related note which may or may not make a difference to you....i noticed today that under the win audio mixer/volume control (both recording and playback properties) one can enable/disable a microphone. although i'm betting that most all of you already knew that. but i had the mic enabled on both since the latest win install...so i guess that might explain why people bitched they could hear themselves speaking while connected to voice chat with me even though i used headphones....it was essentially listening or recording everything i was hearing and sending it back out. doh.
