I run all of the tests at the default settings with the newest version of 3dmark2001SE - 1024x768, compressed textures, etc. just as the defaults are... and don't worry about getting a good score! A good score could mean less than nothing if the tweaks do nothing but enhance 3dmark performance - the point of having a good videocard is not so you can benchmark it, but so you can enjoy your games more

... The only thing that I would really call required as far as tweaking would be to make sure that Vsync is off...
