Bizarre keyboard problem when I boot up!

hey, got a bizarre problem with my keyboard on the Desktop PC I have. Basically when I boot up the computer the Scroll Lock and the Caps Lock lights are stuck in the "on" light. The keyboard is completly unresponsive and the computer won't boot because it doesn't detect a keyboard.

After an interdeterminate amount of time the keyboard beeps and then goes back to normal and works fine for as long as the computer is on, I mean, completely fine no unresponsiveness or anything.

Any idea why this is? I'd presume it was on its way out as its about 10 years old, but I don't understand why it then works COMPLETELY fine!

Any help guys?

thanks for the reply! bah! i'll have to look out for a cheapy one, i don't like extra buttons cos i'm so used to the old D-buttons and Ctrl for games, but i do like having a little 'Windows' button in the bottom left corner as it can override the system when it freezes and you can carry on.

i just find it so weird that it then works ok for as long as i use it - could it just be thats its really cold in my bedroom (which it is?).

cheers again.

I dont think the cold has anything to do with it. i suppose it could be a motherboard problem, but a ten year old keyboard just sounds like the problem. You may want to try and borrow a keyboard from someone, plug that in, and see if you get the same problem. if not, its the keyboard, if you do, it could be something else.
