Looking for a cheap LCD

Well, I just bought an old LCD for 50 bucks. It's a 15" with a 23/25(I can't remember)ms response time.

Honestly, I don't mind it for gaming. I really can't tell much of a difference over my old CRT. The CRT had a higher res, but it hurt to look at it at that res (60hz at 1280x960) and the picture looked like crap. Also, I used to have horrible headaches, they're gone now.

But, 15", though the same viewable size as my CRT, is small. And though I barely notice the ghosting, it is there. Plus, it has a max res of 1024x768, so my machine's true potential is wasted.

The guy I bought theis from said he'll buy it back for the full 50 dollars, and I think at max, I could spend another 150-175.

I thought this one looked nice: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824208003

Or I could get something like a Samsung 713N for around 250 dollars, but honestly I'm not too impressed by the ones we have at the lab.

EDIT

Any suggestions?

that seems like a good buy for a 8ms 17 in tft lcd.i just got an envision en7410e 17in tft 16ms for 189.00 at staples with instant rebate.it looks really good in games but the 1280 x 1024 takes some getting used to and when i lower the res to 1024 x 768 it looks kinda wierd.it is hard reading text at the higher res so i have to keep increasing text size.later

How's the color depth at 1280x1024? I know all of the 17" LCD's at work go down to 16bit at anything higher than 1024x768.

I have the Samsung 915n, and its a great monitor. The 715n would be just a good, albiet smaller.

Unless I need to turn down the refresh rate, the 715N maxes at 1280x1024 16bit.

The easiest way to see if your monitor can handle 1280x1024 at 32bit is to right click on your desktop, go to properties, then to the settings tab. Move the slider all the way to the right and see if it moves your color count down from 32bit to 16bit.

mine does, no problem. Its 19 inch though, don't know if there is a difference. I run at 75 herts. 1280x1024. 32bit color. Its also great for gaming as the respnse time is 8ms. There is no ghosting or delay.
