What's a good psu besided Antec ?

Looking to change psu's . Sandras reporting 87c . I think the bottom fan on my antec 350 smartpower is gone. Blasted thing's only 2 months old. When I built this comp I tried an Antec 430 Truepower it lasted 7 days and went poof. Second one refused to power up . Best Buy was then out of stock so I downgraded to the 350. That one lasted 3 days then upon power-up I saw smoke and pulled the plug opened it up and the power lead to my floppy had burnt off all the insolation fortunately nothing else was damaged, now this Either Best Buy got a shipment of reconditioned ones or they where built on a friday .

Either way I'm willing to try a different brand. Any suggestion on a good quality psu?

Yeah somethings wrong if you keep blowing PSUs! Is the power bad in your house? Antec PSUs are usually top notch. Enermax ones are good, the same with Topower and Sparkle.

I'm running the power through an APC backups LS 500 and the powerchute program reports nothing wrong with my electric and neither does a good old fashioned probe, proper current and ground. So I dunno what's going on I know the odds of 4 bad psu's is rather extreme...but then my luck useually is.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone ..Time to browse and check out the rails on them.

I'd guess a bad APC, come on........... Three PSUs....no way. Take the APC out of the picture then try to run the comp.

I doubt the APC is bad that I bought right after the 4th psu and is only 2 months old Most likely a 350 just isn't enough for what I've got..or the prob is mobo related somehow, bad mobo sensor perhaps causing the fans to run too slow or a voltage prob?

So you mean to tell me that 4 PSUs were bad......so then your one APC can't be bad? You bought all of those PSUs new. The APC is new. That doesn't mean it isn't faulty. The new PSUs were faulty. Just unhook the APC and try it.

Yep thats just what I'm saying
1st 430 poofed in 7 days no APC
2nd was opened probably returned and restocked never powered up no fans or any signs of life, no APC.
3rd 350 smartpower wiring to floppy burnt in 3 days no APC.
This 4th 350 smartpower lasted just over 2 months still working bottom fan is turning but not up to speed just recently. I added the APC 2 weeks after the 4th one was installed. I'll unhook it just to see anyways . First though I'm going to unhook the smartpower sensor lead from the mobo and see if the fans spin at their proper speeds.

Anyways peace my friend Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas to you and yours.

I would highly recommend the Enermax 431 watt. I am currently using that, and I haven't had the slightest problem with it even once. The 12v runs slightly high (.5v at most, not much, 4%), but aside from that, no problems...

I used to like the enermax's, but the 5v rail is quite weak on the one I have here atm & I've heard of other peeps having the same trouble on 350v model last years(not sure about the newer ones with fan control built in..hope there better!

Thinking next time of going for:

420W HiperPower Quiet Dual Fan (Active Fan Control) Active PFC

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/psu.htm

http://web6.scan.co.uk/Products/Info.asp?WPID=37216

there at good price for uk

can't find any other distributors about

I use Scan quite a lot myself but here's another supplier I stumbled across recently http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/k.asp
Their prices are even lower than Scans
