Processor change....

hello. I have a serious problem with my processor.
2 days ago my processor was at a speed of 1.7ghz(xp 2100+ i fink)
now when i defraged later that day, my processor speed dropped to 1.29Ghz XP1500+) can any1 explain this to me and help me get the 1.7ghz back pls?

what bus speed are you running your CPU's FSB at?

Yup it's an ECS board, I'm not surprised. You just need to get back in your bios, and set the processor back up. BTW, ECS boards are famous for doing this.

go into your BIOS and set the FSB to 133Mhz

im not kinda confident into going into bios . I dont even know where to go to change the fsb stuff and that. I need guides, thnx.

ok i went into bios, had 3 choices to change from:it was on 100/100mhz , 133/100mhz(or other way round i think) and 133/133mhz. the last was the right to choose from?

go in look around just don't change anything, see if you can find the setting

well, to benefit you STAC, i actually have a system built around that same MoBo for my youngest sister (7). ATM i'm getting ready to go to school, then work, but i'll take a peek into the BIOS and tell you what you need to change

well i changed it to 133/133mhz and now its back to how i wanted it anyway. ill com bac to here if i hav anymore problems about this subject. Thnx alot.
