This is it.......Upgrade Time!!!
Ok guys, I've been on here before discussing a new rig, but now I'm getting serious.......I need a machine. Please feel free to offer any suggestions or input. My budget is not low nor high, just in between maybe a little on the higher side. LOL!
I was looking at either the:
AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Venice Core, Socket 939.......NewEggs price $367
or
AMD Athlon 64 4000+ Clawhammer Socket 939.......NewEggs price $473
For Video Card I have always been an ATi person, but I have no problem with NVidia, in fact I've been looking at the 6800 and 6600GT.
I need help on a motherboard. I have no clue what to look for except PCI-E for sure.
So please and help is greatly appreciated.

Don't forget to compare to www.zipzoomfly.com they are sometimes cheaper than newegg, have free 2day shipping, and don't charge tax if you're in CA/NJ (which I see you're not).
Are you using USD? If not then the 3500+ might be good to look at, it's around 270USD. Could drop an extra hundred into your video card (might get you up to 256mb)

Alright any opinions would be great because I'm currently looking at Gigabytes Dual Geforce 6600GT which comes with their K8NXP-SLI 8 SIGMA Motherboard.

TigerDirect.ca offers Motherboard + SLI cards bundled. Might be worth a look.

Moved to the technology discussion section,
Anyway, most motherboards are good, try looking at the Althon 64 SLi Board Roundup at Tomshardware to help your decision.

Hmm you know if you wait a bit longer. You maybe able to afford one of the cheaper dual core processors coming out, and pick up a 7800 GT.
