Well it's almost christmas... TIME TO UPGRADE!!!
well... as i said, it's just about christmas, and i have put out my christmas list for a new keyboard, 512 MB of PC-2100 (for those who can't add... that would gimme 768 MB's) and a new video capture card... and... um... a playstation 2. And of course... my being 15 and all, i asked for money. Basically for clothes and whatever else i didn't remember to add in. No i know a lot of you may think that i should upgrade my processor... it being a duron and all. But my computer isn't even 1 year old, so i figured i would wait till it IS a year old before upgrading it. Then give my parents a 500 MHz upgrade on their processor. As it seems, as i upgrade, they upgrade. I gave them my OLD video card... a 16 MB upgrade. Boy i just can't wait for christmas.

Heh
I hear ya, man... I'm prayin' for cash here. My job pays crap, but it's at the family business, so I gotta stick wit it at least 'til college. That said... I've upgraded everything but my CPU thus far... I'm thinkin' about upgrading to a dual XP system (except while I'm sober and alert, because then I remember that I can barely afford ONE new CPU...)

UPGADE! UPGRADE!
Yeah, I want to upgrade real bad myself. Christmas is a non-event for me, don't ask. Personally, I plan to wait until about February or March to upgrade. That's when all the X-mas hype will be over and prices will drop. (at least in theory)
Of course there's always that slim chance that I might win that contest for the XP2000 and KR7A in which case upgrading will happen MUCH sooner. But I don't absolutely count on that.
Otherwise, my planned upgrade will be an Abit KX7(possiblility of a different choice of purchasing a M/B with 8X AGP, you know, to support a future Radeon .)
1gig of PC2700 RAM(4 256meg sticks, may change if M/B does)
An XP2100 CPU<-- a hand-me-down when my brother upgrades, he gets a X-mas bonus check from his job).
Jumping to Windows XP(have had it for months, still sealed in the package, been waiting to get a DDR motherboard first).
And a slight possibility of upgrading my SB Live 5.1 MP3+ if it doesn't agree with XP to an Audigy.
This is all assuming that the money will be there to do this, of course. Currently, I'm working at a "ClownBurger" (If you think about it, you'll get what restaurant that actually is, "Want fries with that?") but that will change when the weather breaks, you can be sure.

i assume you mean have 2 Athlon XP's on one motherrboard, but you can't do that. They work as a single CPU... CPU. It's Athlon MP's that you can dual with. Sorry if i ruined your dreams.

um... WHY? your system is better than mine... (notice i am talking about going to WinXP) i mean... 768 MB's of PC-133, a processor that is my speed only it has more cache, so it runs a lot better. I mean... NO reason to not move to XP now. Unless it is just the principle of the thing.

Not true.
XP1600+ - XP2000+ (pre-thoroughbred): 100% identical to the equivalent MPs in performance, do MP just fine without any modification.
XP2100+ and above: 99.99% identical to the equivalent MP... the only difference is, the L1 and L5 bridges are not linked. When linked with conductive paint (or whatever) you have an Athlon MP. Note that it's the L1 and L5... the L2 and L4 are the ones with the little laser-cut ditches. The MP mod requires nothing but a conductive marker of some sort (paint, pencil, rear-window defogger, etc.).

ok... but you know what REALLY hurts? the fact that you put "-SporkPimp". that really hurt. but also, i mant that for if you didn't want to mod your XP's. But hey, thanks for the step by step instructions on how to do that.
