NVIDIA nTune Performance Application
I came across this software on Nvidia's website a few days ago and downloaded it. nTune is supposed to work with nforce-based motherboards, and since I'm using a Abit Fatal1ty AN8, I thought I'd give it a try. What I'm mostly interested in at this moment, is something called Nvidia Monitor. It's supposed to monotor the temps and voltages of the nForce based motherboards. So when I try to access this part of the software, I get the following message, "Your system does not have Bios support to launch NvMonitor.exe" Does anyone know what kind of support is needed. Might it be just a matter of tweaking some settings in the Bios, or would it require a new Bios from Abit with the support added? Hopefully someone will have an answer for me, as I've not been able to find any answers yet.

Support for the advanced features of the NVIDIA nTune requires vendor specific setup files that are not included with this package. Please contact your motherboard or system vendor for the correct files to enable this functionality.

that might be your problem, have you updated your bios?

Yes, I recently just finished updating the Bios on the Fatal1ty AN8 Bios to the 1.2, which is the latest one that Abit has out.

Doesn't the AN8 have uGURU on it? Try disabling it or removing the software for it or both. The old version of uGURU on the AN7 didn't work with motherboard moniter at the same time but mbm5 works fine if the uGURU is off. The two programs did similar things and could not run concurrently.

Nvidia Chipsets support a lot of features natively, but it all comes down to the motherboard manufacturers to decide how and such. Basically, most if not all of them support the basic stuff with the generic Ntune, but to enable the advanced features, the bios must support it, and the "branded" Ntune from the motherboard manufacturer as well.
It's simply a way of making users pay for the features, since low end boards with Ntune, or specific high end models like yours that might not work with the generic Ntune, but will with the one that comes bundled on the CD with the board OR locked out so that you must use a proprietary app from them to use those features.
I beleive that Abit went the later route with ABIT EQ.
I have the Asus with the Nforce 3 250GB and I have a somewhat similar situation, except I have more features with the Asus branded Ntune vs the nvidia Ntune.
Another way to look at it is Nvidia basically offers flexibility for product diversification to board manufacturers and a way to offer some features that big companies used to offer exclusively. And that way, board manufacturers don't end up using different chips from different manufacturers to offer the same basic functions.
Hope it clears things up.

edit: To A1A9C1, I uninstalled the UGuru to see if the nTune would run as you suggested. No go, I since reinstalled the uGuru and uninstalled the Nvidia nTune. If it won't work, no use keeping it on the computer. Thanks for the suggestion though.
