Graphics Card Overheating?

Ok so i have a AIW Radeon 9700 Pro. My computer crashes during some games like doom 3 and half life 2, one thing i've noticed is that even though the motherboard and the heatsink are warm but not hot. When I touch the graphics card I can't keep my finger on it for literally more than 3 seconds without burning the $shit out of it. Is there something I can do to fix this? I'm surprised it hasnt started on fire yet!

More to the point, is it working or clogged up with dust? You may just need to clean it out, but it's it's not working then I would suggest replacing the fan/heatsink with something better. A good choice would be the Artic Cooling VGA Silencer or ATI Silence 1. This would give you better cooling of the card, and overall system temps. Even if you need to RMA the board later on you can still place the old heatsink/fan back on as long as the replacement isn't permanent.

However, if the heatsink/fan is still good then it could be that the card is faulty. If anything you could contact the manufacturer for support, or an RMA of the board if it's concluded by them to be necessary.
