Sad guidance for an AMD XP system

almost eight or nine months ago for an emergency reason i had to
built up an AMD system for home use without thinking of which component out there
is the best and which ones will suit my needs but now i realize that i made some crucial mistakes
when choosing the right kind of components. the system is as follows;

AMD Athlon XP 2500
512 MB Twinmos DDR 400 Ram
128 MB ASUS GeForce 5200 V9520
80 GB HDD Samsung 7200 rpm
ASUS A7V8X-X motherboard
ASUS T-230 Case
i had a severe problem with A7V8X-X when i tried to update the bios with the ASUS software included in the package; bios erased itself during the
process and never able to copy the new version on to itself! so i had to change the board with a new one!
Plus, the ASUS V9520 graphics card was a huge disappointment in terms of performance and image quality
it delivered.
So i ve been seriously thinking of upgrading the components although its been only eight months since the
purchase. I ve changed the original case fans of T-230 with Thermaltake Smart Case Fan II for a quiet
work environment but other than those should i upgrade upgrade my motherboard to a A7V8X-Deluxe
or an Abit? Is it worth doing? Or should i use this system as far as it goes and wait for an extra year or two until the AMD 64 processors
are widely spread and become cheaper and then shift to a 64 bit system?
to give you and idea, i use the computer mostly for music recording, graphics and artwork design, website building and rarely for playing games...
i really need some advice...

I would wait, and you might not have to wait too long since the Athlon64 prices are dropping steadily and there are already inexpensive motherboards. You should be able to keep the RAM and there will be motherboards with better graphics integrated than what you already have.
