??? Digital cameras under $400

So let's hear it. What's good, what's not?
I was thinking Canon Powershot SD200 or SD300.
Optical zoom would be nice. Small size a plus too.

I'd look at the minolta DiMage series, or, if you can find one, a Sony Mavica 4 megapixel(they don't make them anymore, but if you can find one, it should be right around $400)

recommend canon a-series

I own a Canon A70, and am quite impressed with the quality. The Canon A-series offers the best price/performance/quality IMHO, and has been very consistent from one generation to the next. The latest models are the A-75 and A-85 IIRC, and there might be an A-90 now.

Next step up from a Canon A-series I'd go straight to SLR... Nikon D70 is the pro-sumer model to beat. I'm less enamoured with the Canon Rebel.
