monitor problem

hi all
my lower right corner was affected a little by the speaker that was standing 5cm from it and now i have an area of abt an inch near the lower right corner with distorted coloration , i know that a speaker magnet can cause that but is there a way to reverse this and if yes then how?

i must say it a minor distortion and in a very small area but still a little annoying.

thanks , lz.

Try looking in the monitor menu, or for an actual button, called 'degauss'

It will also get better with time by itself. Do a degauss a couple of times a day until the effect disappears. Degaussing several times right after each other may not be a good idea though, since it stresses the components causing extra heat.

The internal deguass should take care of the problem - if not, take it to a TV shop and a tech can degauss the CRT with a big coil by hand - only takes about ten seconds...

BTW, the degauss circuitry should activate itself automatically after the unit is turned off for a few hours, but if the discoloration in the corner doesn't disappear after a few (three or so) turn on cycles over a couple days you may need to unplug the unit (and leave it unplugged for a few hours), then plug it back in and turn it on to get the internal degauss circuit to activate.
