For First Time, Affordable PC Vendor Offers Systems Priced From $399 Without Requiring Manufacturer’s Rebate
IRVINE, CA -- (INTERNET WIRE) -- 10/07/2002 -- eMachines, Inc., the second-leading vendor of desktop PCs sold through U.S. retailers, today announced a full-featured line of PCs for the holiday season priced from $399 without requiring a manufacturer’s rebate for the first time in its history.
Priced at $399, $499, $649, $749 and $999, all five PCs incorporate Ethernet ports for broadband Internet access capability and six USB 2.0 ports, while all models priced from $499 and up offer separate CD-RW and DVD drives.

Incorporating ATI’s highly rated RADEON™ 9700 PRO graphics board, the $999 system is the company’s first PC targeted to the gaming enthusiast and will initially be sold direct from eMachines beginning late October.

Ethernet as standard equipment. This system is ideal for users

architecture — 500 MHz faster than its predecessor. Other
features include 128 MB DDR, 40 GB hard drive, 56K V.92 ready
fax/modem, a 48x CD-ROM drive, six USB 2.0 ports, keyboard,
wheel mouse and speakers for $399.
- With multimedia functionality incorporated throughout, the
T1840 equips users with an economical PC for CD recording and
digital movie viewing. Priced at $499, the PC includes an
Intel Celeron 1.80 GHz processor based on the Intel NetBurst
architecture, 128 MB DDR, 40 GB hard drive, 56K V.92 ready
fax/modem, a 40x CD-RW drive, 16x DVD drive, a built-in 10/100
Ethernet port, six USB 2.0 ports, keyboard, wheel mouse and
speakers.
- Blending performance with remarkable value, the T2085 offers
consumers a number of multimedia features for a $649 price
tag. The PC includes an AMD Athlon(TM) XP 2000+ processor,
256 MB DDR, 80 GB hard drive, S3 Graphics ProSavage8(TM)
integrated video, 56K V.92 ready fax/modem, 40x CD-RW drive,
16x DVD drive, built-in 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port, six USB 2.0
ports, keyboard, wheel mouse and amplified speakers.
- The T2200 is designed for maximum performance in productivity
applications, digital media and 3D gaming and is affordably
priced at $749. The T2200 features an AMD Athlon XP 2200+
processor, 512 MB DDR memory, S3 Graphics ProSavage8 integrated
video, 40x CD-RW drive, 16x DVD drive, 100 GB hard drive,
built-in 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port, six USB 2.0 ports and three
1394 Firewire ports for optimum device connectivity. In
addition, a multimedia-enhanced USB keyboard is included for
convenient, pre-programmed “one-key” access to desired
applications. An AGP slot for future upgrades, wheel mouse and
amplified speakers are also included.
- Gaming enthusiasts seeking leading-edge performance at
an “extreme” value may consider the T2200 Special Edition (SE),
a “powered-up” version of eMachines T2200 that adds the ATI
