crashfree bios crashed, help?
well i've got an asus a7v8x-x mobo which is supposed to have "crash free bios"
unfortuantely asus's own program, their auto updater screwed me over. i was updating my bios and it said that it couldn't verify my bios and that i should restart my machine. i did and no post... so i use my backup pc to find info on crash free bios and how to utilize it...ASUS doesn't give you any walk through on how to use them, they just say, "with a few easy clicks in DOS you'll be up and running in no time!" so now i'm screwed, no post, the floppy drive is detected, but it won't read the floppy, no lights on the keyboard, no signal to the monitor, the lights on the cd drives run, but once again they don't do anything. the fans all turn on, but still no post. i found some info on how you're supposed to put the bios info on a bootable disk, i made a bootable floppy and put the .awd file on it, along w/ aflash.exe, and flash.exe. but the floppy drive basically just has its light constantly on, it won't read the disk.

If the floppy drive's light is constantly on doesn't that mean the data cable is backwards or sometin?

that is what was wrong w/ the floppy, i figured that out shortly after posting.
anyways, i got this all fixed up...my mobo was acting as it should have, the problem is that i didn't know it was because my video card was fried...so now my r9800pro is on it's way back to newegg for a refund, my r9000 just stopped working, and i'm running my fx5600xt

Don't ever use the Windows Asus BIOS update... ever...
When my A7N8X didn't POST, I just bought a new mobo. You could however, as Neon suggested, buy a new BIOS chip.

the new asus update filea all say *Do Not Use AsusUpdate To Flash This BIOS* ....now you kwno why...lol
also...go to bootdisk.com and make a dr. dos biosflasher bootdisk and put asus's bios flasher and the desired bios on there after resetting the CMOS via jumpers....my asus did the same thign and that fixed it (i did the exact same thign you did with the 1005 bios..lol) |

that's really weird that it's starting to screw up though, i've been using asus's flash to update for a few months now, i never had any problems w/ it.
anyways, it is fixed now, i just had to get rid of my vid card (somehow it fried upon restart) and everything works now.
