monitor is flickering in Ultima Online
hey, my monitor is flickering in different parts when im playing Ultima Online. Its a new monitor, its a compaq and its only a half a year old. It seems like its only in ultima online, but also, sometimes the bottom right of the screen, where the time is, will fade away, then come back. Really weird, i tried setting it to different resolutions, and different refresh rates, it still is happening. Anything i can do?
Thank you
its a CTR flatscreen

Does it happen in both the 3D and the 2D versions?

Have you tried to force your refresh rate through a program like Refresh Force?

Do you have anything like a tv, amplifier, stereo, fan or anything else like that nearby - It my just be EM interference.
It may only be noticable in certain refresh rates - like the one ultima uses for example

yea, it's either a bad monitor, or EM interfearance...move everything away from it (speakers, case, etc) and turn it off/on and degauss it. if it still occurs, you might want to look into compaqs warranty...

all monitors are prone to em interference. especially near a fridge - its down to the way crt monitors work. The cathode rays can be bent my em (I think - and this is laymans thinking here) which is what causes these problems.
I first discovered this with my amiga a600 which I strategically placed on an amplifier (I had a small bedroom)only to find I had loads of weird problems with the display. All down to the rf modulator being too close to the power supply on the amp.
