Default Post Compaq Presario 2800, powered by ATI

HP (NYSE:HPQ) announced the powerful Compaq Presario 2800 notebook PC, offering customers high-end graphics and a large display. The notebook enables mobile users to play fast, ultra-realistic 3D games, watch DVDs, open multiple windows, work on large files and give power-packed presentations.

"For the first time, mobile users can experience graphic and video features never before available on a notebook PC," said Kevin Frost, vice president of worldwide notebook marketing, HP Personal Systems Group. "The Compaq Presario 2800 notebook gives mobile users the power and freedom to play many of the hottest and latest 3D games, enhance a presentation with video and watch DVDs anywhere, longer and with the quality of a high-end consumer DVD player."

The Compaq Presario 2800 offers the advantage of ATI's MOBILITY RADEON 9000 graphics technology. This new technology delivers fast, ultra-realistic 3D game play, enables the integration of video into presentation software without slowing down the notebook's performance and provides stunningly clear text and images, which reduce eye fatigue. Improved power management in the notebook also extends battery life, enabling users to stay mobile longer.

Honored as "Editor's Choice" at the 2002 Consumer Electronics Show, the Presario 2800 notebook PC delivers integrated 802.11b wireless capabilities,(2) the latest technology and great multimedia performance.

Sporting a sleek, stylish silver casing and weighing less than 6 pounds, the notebook includes a 1.7 gigahertz mobile Intel Pentium 4-M processor, 30 gigabyte hard drive, 512 megabyte (2 DIMMs) DDR SDRAM, 15" SXGA+ panel, ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9000 graphics with 64 MB of DDR dedicated memory, 8x DVD/CD-RW combo drive and USB 2.0 support. Pricing for this configuration starts at an estimated street price of $2,248.(1)

The Presario 2800 notebook PC also can be enhanced with a Compaq 802.11b or Bluetooth MultiPort module. A mail-in coupon with the purchase of the notebook entitles the purchaser to receive a free wireless MultiPort module or an offer to buy a wireless module and wireless access point for only $99. This promotion is valid until Sept. 30, 2002.

The Compaq Presario 2800 notebook PC with ATI's MOBILITY RADEON 9000 64 MB DDR (double data rate) memory is expected to be available in early September.
