Default Post Monitor burnt

My monitor died yesterday giving thump noise and kind of odd smell. Fortunately the company agreed to replace it, But I was wondering if there is any problem with the driver.
I was using Omega Driver..it's been more than two weeks I guess. then there was a visual problem in Monitor..the view kind of expanded.
Then I thought a driver problem and used Nvidia 29.42 when XP rebooted, it wasn't able to initialize the monitor. I switched off the monitor and after the full reboot, I switched on the monitor..This seemed to have worked. But after sometime, the Monitor died.

Any thoughts?

If it is a technical problem, I would be happy!!!
I want it to be a technical problem so that it will be gone once I fix the new one.

I don't think its even possible for video drivers to destroy a monitor.

Refresh rate forced waaaay to high might do it?
And forcing it through DXDiag is a major no-no

Default Post There is such a thing as a monitor cooler

I remember seeing the review of one a while back, it was an 80mm case fan in a small plastic enclosure that snaps on the monitors top over the heat vents. It's actually supposed to work really great which I believe seeing as monitors are almost entirely passively cooled. I just didn't like the way you had to run the power from the pc to the monitor. (But with me evermax that wouldn't really be a problem. )

I got this off my lousy digital(web) cam.

It works great by sucking the heat out of your monitor.. AND it also sucks the dust too.. (the fans are easily dirty)
