Wireless Mouse Question

I'm thinking of getting a wireless mouse.

How long does the batteries usually last?

I usually get around 2 months or less out of my batteries. I am on the PC alot so it is not too bad. Sometimes though you may get a weak batch of batteries and they only run about a month. Overall it is not that bad for me anyways.

One thing to consider if you go wireless. They aren't much good for playing games. With wireless comes a little bit of lag and it becomes irritating after a while. I bought the MS Wireless optical mouse blue, and regretted it. It feels really weird - the pointer moves as you move the mouse but it feels slugish and not as responsive. I didn't bother me that much at first as I was only using it for general windows use and net surfing but after a week or so I decided to play some games and it was really noticable because I kept getting killed.

This may have been corrected in the newer versions such as the one you're looking at but I don't know for sure.

Yeah logla is right about cordless having a bit of lag. However I know some members here have either the MX700 by Logitech or the wireless optical bluetooth mouse from MS. They have been very pleased as lag is to a minimum with both of those great mice.

The Logitech MX700 and the new MS mouses do not have the lag problem. Trust me I had the first Intellimouse Explorer Mouse, and was a piece of ________! BTW, if you're worried about batteries pick up a nickel metal hydride set /w a charger. Just remember to get a good brand and not something cheap.

I love my MS Wireless Optical Black SE. I've never noticed any lag at all and I play FPS online all the time, used it throughout my time with the DH clan no probs. The only time the mouse goes sluggish or unresponsive is if the reciever is placed too close (i.e. underneath or touching) the monitor it causes interference. What i like is how the performance doesn't degrade as the battereis run down, it will either work fine or drop out and the led underneath flashes constantly meaning it's time to change batteries, my pc is on 24/7 and i only change the batteries every couple of months, but i do use rechargable ones which have a higher charge than single use. If you use the MS software it pops an message up on screen when the batteries run low but before they go altogether which is nice. I recommend getting one

My mouse just died today and so I'm in the market for a new one and the choice is between the logitech MX700 and the Wireless Intelimouse explorer.

What I need to know is how close these babies perform next to a wired mouse.

I really dont need to be spending any money at the moment and dont want to make the wrong choice.
