Can anyone tell me what the hole in the Pentium 4 heatspreader is for? This is something I have thought of for a while but have never been able to find out why,
it looks like it a vent to help some of the trapped air/pressure thats inside to get out or mabe a spot to make it easier to remove. (removeing it will void warranty)

with temperature rising and falling when u turn on/off a computer, you would definately need to release the excess pressure some how, other wise with the added tension of the HSF you could crack the cpu die
