What RAM should I get
Hey guys, I got my PC2100 ram here and since I'm unlocking my XP I'm gonna get some new ram and give the old one to my parents.
I have a few choices that fit in my price range
OCZ PC2700 @ 245 CDN
OCZ PC3000 @ 260 CDN
OCZ PC3200 @ 290 CDN
True Samsung PC2700 @ 290 CDN (Sorry about that guys)
and lastly
Generic Samsung PC2700 @ 210 CDN .
Any ideas?

What is generic Samsung .... anyway, I recommend Samsung (whichever kind). Those were shown to overclock best.

ocz 3200 is not ddr 400 of samsung dude
true samsung means samsung chips on samsung pcb
so get the "True Samsung" DDR333 it is really 333
any generic samsung may not actually go that high without probs

Corsair costs too much and it's basically the same as OCZ or True Samsung, IMO

I was reading an article a month ago and it compared the different types of ram and found that the only companies that HADN't overclocked their ram and had actually been selling true 333 ram were Nanya and Samsung . The Corsair didn't overclock at all. They claimed that the heatspreader on the Corsair was on so tight that they almost thought that Corsair memory had "something to hide" . Guess what they found when they managed to pry it off . It was overclocked DDR266 ..... most of the other manufacturers' RAM ran at 333 and wouldn't go any higher. The Samsung overclocked like a champ, so that's why everyone recommends it. I'm pretty sure that's why the Samsung memory's reputation has changed from "the cheap company" to "the highest quality RAM for OCing"....

I would go with Samsung, it's cheaper and it's the best one for OC, that's the one I'm using right now (not Samsung PCB thou.. ). The maximum FSB I have used is 185Mhz CAS2-1.8V, Normal settings in my I-Will XP-333, the maximum I have run it is at 190FSB, but the video card and sound card start to crap out at this speed, but have never been able to raise it to 200Mhz, even with resistor mods, it once started at 2.1V, but Windows never got to load
But even for a generic PCB it works perfectly stable at 185Mhz FSB
My 2 cents

Re:
Well, the thing you have to realize, dallas, is, up until recently, no company has produced PC2700 to JEDEC specifications. It's all, basically, overclocked.

FWIW: http://www.tweaktown.com/document.ph...review&dId=314 nice article from just last week.
'Nother FWIW: AGP 8x cards & boards are a reality. 533FSB mobo's & CPU's to stay up w/the transfer rate, are here too. All we need is 533mhz RAM ... I'd expect prices to adjust down for slower RAM just like CPU's have & vid cards & mobo's are.
P4's @ 3gig+ real soon.
Things are moving fast.

Think I'll need to mod my KT3 Ultra to get that high fsb?

Samsung PC2700 -CTL still seems to be the best out there. Speeds of over 210mhz aren't that uncommon
