Emule

Im trying to get Emule to work through Zone alarms firewall.
but I am having trouble setting it up properly.

I cannot modify the server with zone alarms on because it is locked
and I have no access to it.

my computer is connected on a Local network.

when I connect it says I have a low ID
I have a very poor download speed all the time the best I seem to get has been around
12.0/s but most typically about 2.0/s most downloads just never start.

my settings are as follows .

connection
--------------
d/l 512
u/l 128
clientport 1080
udp disable off
3093

proxy
--------
Socks 5
port 1080

I cant seem to do anything to speed it up IDEAS any1?
cheers.

The fact that you have a lowID explains partly your slow speed.
Anyway, be aware that emule is NOT known for its speed but instead for the huge catalog of files you can find on it.
It's not uncommon for a file to take 2-3 weeks to download!

Can you explain better how the network is setup in your place?
Is there a router into which all the computers are connected or is there a master pc sharing the internet connection?

Smilie

Thanks,

we have 1 server connected to the net via cable modem all other pc's are
connected via Lan.

Ive had a lot of problems getting P2p stuff to work, kazaa seems to work fine
no chance getting irc to work or direct connect to work , I was suprised that me
and my friend got emule to work, the only way i could get irc to work was to run it on the server
but the server ended up getting wasted 1 time, No e-mails got the other people who use it
pretty annoyed with me.

so now I cannot even change the firewall on the server because im password locked out.
im sure with the right setting up I could get this emule running well, would it in anyway be possible to get my computer a high ID ?or is it because im not directly connected? i am
very interested in how IP and all this network stuff works.

its true that Edonkey network is quite slow, i'll keep working on it and if i do work this stuff out
i'll post what I find out, other people must have had simular problems!.

Emule is quite clever but in your situation you can only download from users with a high ID limiting somewhat your sources.

There is not much you can do without getting busted sooner or later, I'll suggest getting friendly with the admin.
Get him out for a drink
