New Monitor
I've just got myself an Iiyama Visionmaster Pro 454 and so far I'm very pleased. The menu and sub-menu are a bit complicated for an old-timer like me but I'm getting the hang of it slowly!

I've had my Hitachi SuperScan Elite 751 for over a year now. I got it as a refurbished monitor for only $125 in August 2002. I have nothing but praise for how this monitor works and looks. In fact, my older son was so impressed with it, he went and got one for himself. He's still using his, too.
The really impressive thing about these is that they were made several years ago. I get excellent refresh rates and super image quality.
Review with Image
I also still have my Digital Research Technologies (MAGInnovision) 19 inch monitor that I got new in 1997. I paid $499 for that one and have had a few problems with it. Already paid $75 about a year and a half ago to have it repaired. It's still not 'quite right' but it is usable on my 2nd computer.
Good luck with your new one.

Re: Re: New Monitor
I'm getting there! Another feature I love is the anti-glare coating, now I can actually see my enemies on Spearhead even in the day time!

One of my buddies is complaining about his wide screen LCD when it comes to gaming. He said that there's a lot of 'blurring' when things get very fast paced and the screen has to refresh at high rates. In order to avoid that, he has to turn down pretty much any eye candy and run at lower resolutions.
I have no idea what brand LCD he's using, though.

Yeah, when it comes to LCDs, there's no point in buying any with a high response time because it'll have you wishing you had your good old CRT back.

With the testing I have done here at work and at home I personlly will NEVER buy a LCD for my gaming system.....To me and several of my friends, the CRT is so much more crisp and sharp then an LCD. Don't get me wrong, I like LCD's for systems like I have here at work where all I do is surf and read e-mail but if I have to do anyting graphic-wise I would rather have the good old CRT..... I have an NEC 1850E LCD screen here at work and it is a great LCD but just does not cut it gaming.....

Thanks! That's great, maybe I'll reconsider this whole LCD thing. After all, for the money I would be spending, I could get a top-of-the-line flat-screen CRT! After all, I'm all about gaming and graphics so a crappy LCD wouldn't work. Maybe if their technology improves--but then again $$$. Well, in that case, do you have any good CRT recommendations? I'll have a look at my tigerdirect mag and newegg and see what I come up with.

I recently bought a NEC Multisync 97F-BK from Fry's Electronics for $160 after a $60 mail-in rebate.
It's a 19-inch flat CRT that comes in a black bezel. The color, brightness, saturation, and sharpness are very nice and the user OSM is easy to use too. Also, NEC is a major brand-name that sells excellent quality monitors.
If you can find this monitor for a price similar to what I paid, I would definitely recommend it.
