Looking for a good LCD

I wanna replace this crappy CRT I have (It's a Packard Bell 2024S ) with a nice LCD screen. I currently have a 15" so I'm looking to buy at least a 17". I need a good but cheap LCD screen (<$300 would be good). Do you guys have any suggestions?

Hmph, the only LCD i've used in any length of time was a 17" NEC 1760 monitor. It was a fantastic gaming monitor, but goes for about $400.

Hmm, I'll have to check that out. I'm surprised with all these price breaks that LCDs are still so damn expensive.

Remember, a good 17" LCD is equivalent in screen size to a 19" CRT monitor, while a 15" LCD is nearly equivalent to a 17" CRT.

EDIT: I just checked www.newegg.com, and 17" LCDs start at about $330 (generic crummy ones.) So asking $400 for a entry level gaming-capable model from a brand name company...it's not a bad deal I think.

I've always had a CRT and I want something really 1337 now and that saves some deskspace. Everything looks so futuristic now and with my prometeia coming tomorrow, an LCD would make my computer look sooooo sweet.
