upgrade due soon.
guys need some help.
i am considering an upgrade to a new mobo.
it must take a p4 2.5ghz 400 fsb.
ram i have now 1024mb 266ddr modules board must support this speed due to upgrading mobo only.but would prefer a mobo that will take higher aswell.
currently have 9600pro 8x on a 4x mobo so would prefer 8x.for future.
need at least 2 usb slots
not requiring on-board graphics but if supplied don't matter can be used as backup if ati becomes faulty at some time.
who is the best mobo going.
here is my choice.
msi
intell intel d865 gbfl my prefered choice at this time.
soltek
asus
epox
all help will be gratefully considered.
all above links are from overclockers site

Corsair, OCZ, or Kingston is good ram. I think for your "pound" to go the farthest OCZ would be your best bet.. However, I've some good experiences with Kingston lately; Corsair is good too but it's a little over priced.

cheers i think you could be right the oz does look a little better.at £119 for 512mb pc3200 probably order at the same time as mobo then upgrade to a little more when i have the cash.
also considering the p4 they have on the site 2.4 800mhz for £148.in time.
that will have to be considered due to having a 2.5 400mhz p4 already.
i will loose 100mhz off CPU but increase by double fsb. would you agree with that.

I had some Corsair XMS3500C2PT on a IS7 and it worked beautifully.
The board works both in single or dual mode but for better performances go for a 2x256MB stick.
Then again I'd wait until you get a new processor, DDR266 will be just fine with your current one.

peroni is right, last thursday i just ordered an Asus P4P800, and it arrive the next day, the board itself is simply magnificient, the fastest of its kind i think (the Asus version), especially with the new AI support. i did managed to get some more OC out of it without changing any voltages, and i got it quite cheap too, around USD 120......by the way, it is not recommended to use DDR400 on your current CPU, cause the mobo wont support it, you'll just end up with lower performance of that sort! oh~ and one more thing, Dual-channel ROCKs!
note: dont go for the "VM" ones.......
the deluxe version is also great, with a lot more feature but it comes with a price......
by the way, i really recommend you in Buying ASUS if ya wanted to get this mobo.......there's this General manager of Intel Chipset divison and Vice president of intel recommending this board too.....ya cant go wrong with that...

You need dual sticks to run in dual channel mode. Hence, really make that 800MHz FSB worth the money.

thanx a bunch stu. advice is taken with much gratitude as i quote i have confirmation of dispatch monday or tuesday. hopefully monday.
also i have had this system for a year never been happy with its performance.problem is being a cheap mobo that is installed as seen in-store.
you know the type 2 pci on-board graphics with agp crap.i don't think that over the time you can't beat separates as what i have choose.more options in mobo bios etc.
should now have greater flexibility in CPU being 800mhz fsb.understand my point.
