Abit NF7- ??
Ok, are all NF7's being sold on the net pretty much the v.2 ultra 400's? All the value sites are so damn vauge- they never say one way or the other for sure- and if they do, I don't ussually trust them..
I thought all the new Abit NF7's were red, all the pics I see look kinda brown, like the old boards, especially at newegg. I don't need raid or anything, I just want the soundstorm (which I think they all have) and the latest version.
I'm about ready to buy one, the absolute cheapest is at Gameve.com here (besides buyextemegear- which looks sketchy to me, link below)
Is this the one I want? Are there better deals out there? Is gameve.com an ok place to buy from?
heres some more-
http://www.partspc.com/store/product3270.html
http://www.bzboyz.com/store/product61.html
last resort- but cheapest http://www.buyxtremegear.com/nf7.html
Thanks.
**edit** it looks like on the Abit website, they all have 6 channel audio, but only the NF7-S has the true soundstorm audio- I have a Fortissimo III 7.1 already, but I think the soundstorm is worth getting. - but maybe not- I'm wondering about that I guess.

Newegg is only selling the rev2 now, I have purchased 2 boards from them on non consecutive occasions and they were both rev2.
The boards are like a rusty color.

The only place that I know of that has only Rev 2 boards is newegg.com and the pictures seem old everywhere I looked. The Rev 2 boards are red and the brown ones are rev 1.x. Also I think the soundstorm sound is very good and will eat up noticably less cpu than the fortissimo; I used it over my Hercules GTXP There's a good read at toms hardware

www.excaliberpc.com
Guarranted ABIT NF7-S 2.0, AND they update the bios to the latest version (meaning the latest BIOS out when you buy it).
I bought mine from them, got it in three days, everything worked without any problems whatsoever.
http://www.excaliberpc.com/product_i...roducts_id=866
And best of all, only $108.00!!!!! I easily hit 200fsb, unlike on my old A7N8X... POS
This motherboard is frickin sweet, thats all I gotta say.
best deal EVER.

LOL- I know, 2 years ago my OC'd 1800xp and OC'd PC2100 was one of the fast systems- way past time for upgrade- it barely runs MOH at 40fps /w a 9700p!
I should be able to buy the board next week- Then a 2500+ as soon as possible after- Convincing girlfriend while still having girlfriend is tricky. (we live together)
Thanks for info everyone- I did checkout excaliberpc and gameve- Gameve is cheapest- NewEgg is probably best company to deal with as far as RMA and stuff, but excaliber does the free test and bios upgrade, which is really cool. I have a week to think about it.

Why, I would never wait that long. Call credit card and get your money back- that is ridiculous.

That kinda sux- hope you get it soon! I'm ordering mine right now! I think from GameVE- seems to be the best price. But excaliberpc is looking good too.

I was about to get the one at gameve because it's a great deal, but I can't find anywhere on that site that says they guarantee any revision. It's almost 20 dollars cheaper than excaliberpc too. I wish I could find where they say they guarantee a v2.0- I'd buy it right now.
edit-
I see what you are saying now, the nf7-s is a v2.0, the regulat nf7 doesn't say.

Thanks, I've been waiting a long time (it's been a rough year). Now all I need is a good 2500+ to OC the snot out of!
I got a great deal on 512mb pc2700 ram from PNY that will do the job for a while- I traded for my copy of BF1942- I got the original reciept with it for ther lifetime warrantee, the guy paid 106 dollars for it at comp USA in July! It might be bad, but I won't know until I test it out on the ABIT.
The thing is, that NF7 v2.0 is very upgradable and I'll be able to use it for quite a while- at least a year and a half. It will last until I get some really fast memory, and the top 400mhz fsb AMDcpu that it can handle.. Everyone else will have Athlon 64's and whatnot by then, but that's ok, I'll have a fast enough rig to play the new games coming out- and I won't be dropping huge amounts of money on it.. (because I can't now even if I wanted to)-- I can't wait to get it.

Nice going BWX. I am thinking of getting this board, too but I am still hesitating because of the static noise form SoundStorm people complaining about.
I have NV-133R(nForce 1) and its static noise and stuttering from playing music or DVD has put me down. I would just order it now if those problems were fixed.

I didn't get soundstorm, I got the regular NF7 (non s)- I think they are coming out with an independent Soundstorm card anyway- at least I heard something about it a while ago.

I used the soundstorm awhile back and it was great; no hissing or funny noises and the cpu hit is remarkably low. I'd still be using it if it wasn't for the Audigy2
