umm ok thats REAL hot. Umm you sure you got the AS3 on there evenly? Heatsink seated correctly? Yeah I tried to puit on a heatsink backwards on my 8k3a+ before thats what it did. If the AS3 goes over the edges of the core it's gonna dissipate heat over the chip and not through the heatsink. Double sheck how the heatsink is seated and maybe clean up the as3 and reapply. A little dob'l do ya.

This is what I'm getting...This computer is in the attic with tempertures now reaching upper 80's to maybe low 90's.
It's a 2500+ on an ASUS A7V8X. Should I expect cooler results from this?

What chip? What MB? How hot it it in the room? What cooler? What fan on the cooler? How many case fans? Are the fans blowing the right direction?
It looks like the fan on the main cpu hreatsink isn't even working by that temp-- I've never even seen a cpu over 54degrees on any system that I've worked on at any time, even in a very hot room in the middle of July..

Palimino 1900+ always ran 50*C... would hit EXACTLY 60*C when running MAXED OUT 100% usage for a week straight (167.2 hours actually) i have the alarm set to 60*C, and it came on on day 5.... made the family mad with it beeping constantly...but i didn't want to cut the compiler right then.... 5 days, ARG!

Hmm, I'm running a slightly OC'd Pal. 1800 at 1.82v (see above)- and it never gets above 47- ever. I also have a temp sensor coming up and actually touching the chip- it is pretty accurate. Did you have a good copper cooler/ good fan on that chip with AS3 and good case ventilation? I bet you could have had that Pal running coler if you wanted to.

does it have little chips on the substrate? My pal. doesn't- the Tbreads have little chips on there. You can also tell be voltage I think- My default is 1.75v if yours is lower than that it is probably a Tbred- And weren't you pissed when you thought you got a Pal in a Tbred wrappper? I would have sent it back.

Ahhh, makes sense.
I was looking for that webpage that lets you type in the numbers on the chip and it tells you exactly what you have.. I though I saved it- but I cannot find it. I'll do a search of DH news- I know i twas a news article from quite a few months ago..
edit- downloadable program http://homepage.ntlworld.com/terry_butler/opn-462/
HERE is the one I was thinking of- it's a webpage- just type in the numbers.. It's cool http://mp3.zonebg.com/cpu/cpu.php
OOPS-- Duh - lost my thinking abilities for a second there.

OK, Thanks.... i'll check it now (BTW, Stryker23 is our newest member... directed by me to here...he's having problems with his setup Radeon 9200 at below normal speeds and 2000+ AMD XP that's running 1.2ghz) He should be posting soon, so, if you stick around you might be able to help him out

Yours was made 2 weeks after mine- I got an 1800+. I'm buying an Abit NF7 v2 in a few weeks, and I'm gonna use the 1800 until I can get a 2500+. I think I can get it up to around 1750mhz on air. I've had it almost that fast on this MB- but the mb can't handle the fsb speed. Its an AGNGA- I think your AGOGA is a "special" good OC'ing chip from what I can remember..

From my other thread.
"I've been playing the Jedi Academy Demo and it's been freezing all the time so I decided to check my cpu temp in the bios and it said 160 F so I was worried and took off the heatsink and added more as3 because it looked like there might not be enough. Now it says the temp is 170. But when I use the asus pc probe it says it's 120 f. And so I'm totally confused
Asus A7N8X Deluxe with Braton 2500 running on an Sk-7 with thermaltake smart fan 2"
What's weird is my old rig had the same setup and the processor was around 100F constant, never got higher than 110. I don't know what went wrong here!
