Best Antivirus Software?
Hey everyone,
In light of recent events, I've finally decided to purchase an antivirus piece of software. I know, it's something I should have done a long time ago, but better late than never, right? ![]() Which antivirus program is the best out there right now? I've noticed that Norton and McAfee seem to be the "leaders of the industry." Are these the guy to go with? Which is better? Are there other companies even better than these two? Thanls.

Who is best is a matter of personal choice. I persoanlly like Norton and I run their Corp version of Anti-virus on my network. McAfee is good too.... Like I said, It is more a personaly choice then anything.

I've been using McAfee for years.
Whichever you choose, it's only as good as the person who uses it.

eTrust EZ Antivirus. Small foot print, and a favorite of many corporations and it's cheap!

For personnal use, I'd go for Antivir from H+BEDV Datentechnik GmbH.
Concerning business use (for Necrosis), I'd suggest TrendMicro InterScan VirusWall (for the gateway), Office Scan Corporate Edition (for the workstations) and ServerProtect (for the servers). |

FOr servers the Norton Corp works great. Don't need a specail version for servers. I actually run a server for the Norton Corp. That server gets all the updates and will notify me by my pager if any system on my network gets a virus and it lets me know if it deleted it or quarantined it......I have the Corp server watching 4 workstations and 4 servers.....

I use a combination of AVG Pro and McAfee. Norton has/had some issues with Win XP in the past, definitely did for me personally.
Your results with Norton may vary. Shame too, as the version of Norton I have, while a year old, has only been used once, updated, supposedly to fix the conflict, and then un-installed due to Win XP/Norton not liking each other. It came with my rig free, and I never got to use it. Norton= POS IMO. Like I said though, some people have no problems with it. Whatever you choose, keep your virus database up to date, scan at least twice a week, and avoid virus spewing places such as Kazzaa, and Grokster. Places that offer free stuff, or link to it, (illegal anyway) but you have no idea who you are plugged into getting that freebie. You sleep with a whore, and you eventually wake up with something you don't want.
